Once you log into WebFaction

The first screen you see after you log into WebFaction is a control panel, which we will be using in teh next several stepsĀ  to install our website software in just minutes:

You will see along the top of the control panel as series of buttons that enable you to see your account settings, make payments, set up email accounts, etc . We will focus in on only the Domains/Websites button. Select it and a pull down menu will appear. Select Applications from that menu.

When we start out we will not have any applications installed.

To start installing the one application we will need, Zope, click the control that has a green +, circled in red above. This brings up the Apps Add screen below.

Note the App Type control is a pulldown menu, so click on the little down arrow.

select plone as application.jpg

From the menu, select the highest version of Plone available. There will probably be several other versions to choose from, so you can always check the plone.org website to see the differences. But once again, it is probably best to pick the newest (highest numbered) version.

Note that it also tells you the version of Zope that is involved. Zope is the building block of Plone.
