Disabling Join Using The ZMI Security Tab

You need to bring up the ZMI in a browser or new tab, if you don't already have it so (now you see why I used FireFox or IE7 which support tabs). The ZMI looks like:

logged into the ZMI and see security tab at top.jpg

You should see the Security tab in the top of the ZMI. Click on it to bring up the next screen:

now in security tab see long list of permission and roles.jpg

The Security screen is a long long list of Permission and Roles. You need to scroll down until you see "add portal member", circled in red below:

after scrolling find add portal member and uncheck anonymous.jpg

  • Under the Anonymous column, click to uncheck it. You do not want Anonymous, which means not logged in visitors, to be able to join (add portal member).
  • Make sure the box in the Manager column is checked, so that you have the option of adding additional users.

Scroll down to the bottom of the ZMI, and you will see the Save Changes button, as below:

click save changes at the bottom.jpg
